# RIFT Notes

> RIFT Notes is a private, pay-once Markdown notes app for iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Capture thoughts like a message to yourself — fast, offline, and yours alone. No accounts, no servers, no subscriptions, no AI training. Your notes stay on your device and optionally sync through your own iCloud.

## What makes RIFT different

- **Private by design.** No ads, no sign-ups, no accounts, no tracking, no analytics, no AI training. Notes never route through the developer's servers — they can't read your notes.
- **Pay once, keep forever.** The core app is free. Optional Powerpacks are one-time purchases (no subscription), usually less than what other notes apps charge per year.
- **Offline voice transcription.** Records audio and transcribes it on-device with Apple's models and Whisper — accurate, private, and fully offline.
- **Place-tagging.** Every note can carry a location; see your thoughts on a map.
- **Markdown + Obsidian-compatible.** One-way always-sync stores notes and attachments in your iCloud Drive with Obsidian-compatible frontmatter. Export everything anytime — no proprietary lock-in.
- **Mac menu bar app + CLI.** Quick-capture from the Mac menu bar; a terminal CLI ships with a SKILLS.md so you can wire it to Claude, Codex, or any agent.
- **16 themes**, focus mode, side tabs, colors, and #hashtag organization.
- **Apple-only on purpose.** No Android or Windows version is planned, because syncing without the developer hosting your data isn't possible on those platforms.

- **Core** — Free forever. Capture, edit, organize, tags, colors, search, focus mode, quick bar, light/dark themes.
- **Mobile Powerpack** — $15 one-time. iPhone/iPad sync, location notes + map, offline voice transcription, 4-up camera, 10+ extra themes, 1-way markdown sync to iCloud Drive.
- **Mac Powerpack** — $15 one-time. Mac sync, menu bar quick-capture + transparent overlay, voice transcription, themes, markdown sync, and the CLI.
